Healthy rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands are critical for maintaining ecosystems and societies dependent on clean water. FreshWater works in the assessment, design, analysis, and construction phases of restoration projects to revitalize essential ecosystems and connect people with water.
FreshWater led a team of Madison-based small businesses in the design of a bank stabilization on the Menomonee River in Wauwatosa, WI. The badly eroded bank (shown in image) has retreated by 35-50 feet since the mid-1990s. The design produced a stable bank configuration with a protected toe and rootwads located at the downstream end of the project.
